By car

Drive to the ferry terminal in Holwerd (from Leeuwarden via the N357). Park at the terminal or take your car on the ferry — book a car crossing in advance with Wagenborg.

By ferry

Wagenborg Passagiersdiensten sails several times daily between Holwerd and Nes; the crossing takes about 45 minutes. Current times and booking at wagenborg.com.

By public transport

Train to Leeuwarden station, then the bus to the ferry terminal in Holwerd, and the ferry to Nes. On Ameland the island buses take you to the centre of Nes, within walking distance of De Vlindertuin.

Parking is available at the ferry terminal in Holwerd. On Ameland, De Vlindertuin can be reached by car, bike or bus.

Arrival & reception

Reception is open between 3:00–4:00 pm. If you arrive later, you will find information in the arrival box by the reception.
